The art institute of Chicago web has a lot of information for me. People cannot know every art work. Therefore, website offer the background information of art works so people can understand easier for artworks. Main tap on the web is categorized according to top questions such as collections, exhibitions, calendar, and education. The art institute of Chicago museum has exhibit schedules so people can variously experience art works as each month. As previously stated, the best part of the web is that people can know an artwork’s background through this web. They also offer related times, the information of artists, artworks of countries, and collections. When people check this web, their trip is going to be more fun.

Blog: Themes

The theme of my artwork is king’s love as Taj Mahal. The meaning of Taj Mahal is “the crown of Mahal” and it was built by Mughal Emperor Shah Jahan as Mughal architecture for his favorite third wife, Mumtaz Mahal. It is located in Agra, India. Mughal architecture has a special style that combines styles from Persian, Turkish, and Indian architectural styles. The spatial layout of Taj Mahal is natural and harmonious with lines and curves. Material was used by white marbles. The project began in 1632 and it took 22 years to build the Taj Mahal. There also had a lot of collections of the empire’s artifacts, arts, and crafts like a museum. It might see everyone at least once through a TV show or picture. The Taj Mahal became famous show place in India because people could feel the king’s love when they see the architecture. Mumtaz Mahal received not only much love from the king when she was alive, but also she could live with the king’s love in the gorgeous tomb. When Taj Mahal was completed, the king cut architect’s wrist. The reason was that he did not want to be built more beautiful creatures than Taj Mahal. It is a little bit cruel, but I can feel the king’s real love.

Reflection of Richard Harris Collection.

When I first stepped the Chicago Cultural Center, It made my heart flutter because I had never been any museum in Chicago. There exhibited a lot of skull sculptures and paintings which were collected by Richard Harris. Atmosphere of the exhibition center was very weirdness and gloominess. I just thought why they made this art works by skulls or what purpose was. I tried to appreciate works in various aspects. They described the beauty of human body through skulls and skeletons and their drawings emphasized beautiful lines of bones, muscles and tendons. I could think about human body was perfectly made by god. God might be great artist from this evidence. Skulls were the most beautiful material because no one thought who was beauty or ugly. After I appreciated skulls, I changed my mind. Even though their paintings and sculptures were usually used a color of black, white, and gray, I could feel nobility of skulls and their perception about death. It was very interesting time to think again about death.
